Two years ago, when I first became a full time homemaker, my mom gave me this little tiny book that she had picked up somewhere along the way. Knowing her, it came from a thrift store somewhere, and, knowing her, it had a great story to go with it.
It was this wonderful collection of short articles that very much spoke to where I was and what I was becoming. I had no idea exactly what I was becoming, and I wasn't sure how to get there. I really, really had no idea how I'd change and grow in just the first two years of this journey called motherhood, but this book gave me a bit of a glimpse of those changes. And a little encouragement that there were many, many women out there walking along a similar path.
The book was The Best of Proverbs 31 Ministries. I mentioned it to a friend (hi Tammy!), and she told me about their daily devotionals. I've been being encouraged by them ever since.
And, now, there is a great blog contest to win a scholarship to their conference. Read more about it here. This conference is one of those places that gives encouragement to women that are learning and growing and doing the stuff of Jesus. I've been feeling the tug towards a little bit of leadership in my corner of the world, and this conference is just what I need to push me towards listening to that still, small voice.
Not to mention getting to hear the Nester speak.

ahhh yes, I remember that little book....it so much described who you are becoming and I knew you would like to read it...sometimes the smallest spark catches and a fire is started that we cannot any longer contain..you go girl, there is so much more that you have to unleash......you are my awesome, favorite daughter...I love you, Mama
